Alicante or Valencia? Choosing your airport for Denia
Denia sits between two international airports, which is one of the nicer accidents of geography on this stretch of coast. Neither is a bad choice — but they're not identical, and the difference matters when you're trying to keep a transfer simple.
Alicante (ALC) — usually the answer
Alicante handles the most flights and the most low-cost carriers, and it's the airport most visitors to Denia use. It's also the shorter transfer, and the AP-7 motorway route is now toll-free in the main approach.
- Road distance: roughly 104–105 km.
- Typical private transfer time: about 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on traffic and exactly where in Denia you're going.
- Longer journey times quoted by some operators usually reflect shared shuttles or intermediate stops.
Valencia (VLC) — worth comparing
- Road distance: roughly 117 km.
- Typical transfer time: about 1 hour 20 minutes.
If the flight times or fares work better, Valencia is a perfectly comfortable transfer rather than a compromise. If you're price-comparing, compare the total: two cheap seats from the wrong airport can erase any fare saving.
What to check before booking any transfer
- Is the flight number tracked, so a delay doesn't mean a missing driver?
- Does the price include meet & greet inside arrivals, or a car park meeting point?
- Is it a fixed price per vehicle, or per person?
- Do you need child seats, or extra room for golf bags, bikes or a pushchair?
- Who do you call if the flight is diverted?
A transfer is only as good as the ten minutes after a delayed flight lands.
We can arrange private transfers from both airports to Denia with meet & greet in arrivals, tracked flights and a fixed price agreed before you travel.
